Town of Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department

The Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of a dedicated group of trained volunteer firefighters. These volunteers provide fire and emergency services in the community and vehicle extrication for a portion the Trans Canada Highway and surrounding communities. There are mutual aid agreements in place with other nearby communities for backup assistance. Members participate in training with neighbouring fire departments. A mutual aid agreement is also in place with North Atlantic Refining.

There are currently 16 trained volunteer firefighters. Their training includes orientation, advanced first aid for firefighters, vehicle extrication, SCBA, pumper operations, defensive firefighting and other training needed in fire and emergency services.

The Volunteer Fire Department is located in the Town Hall.
